Lewisville Playhouse is hosting auditions for its upcoming production of “Little Women” adapted from the iconic Louisa May Alcott novel by Kate Hamill this October. The production, directed by Lindsey Humphries, will be the second show in Lewisville Playhouse’s 40th anniversary season and is set to run from December 1 through December 17.

Lewisville Playhouse’s posted synopsis of the show reads as follows:

“Jo March isn’t your typical Victorian lady. She’s indecorous and headstrong, and one day she’s going to be a great American novelist. As she and her sisters grow up in the middle of the Civil War, they strive to be brave, intelligent, and imaginative young women. But as adulthood approaches, each sister must negotiate her private ambitions with society’s expectations. In a war-torn world defined by gender, class, and personal tragedy, Jo March gives us her greatest story: that of the March sisters, four dreamers destined to be imperfect little women.”

Lewisville Playhouse has scheduled auditions for the show from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on October 8 and 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on October 10. The theater has scheduled the first read-through of the play from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on October 12.

Weekly rehearsals will then take place from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week as well as from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tech week will commence following Thanksgiving break on the week of November 26. The theater notes that all actors must be available that week.

Actors will “receive a modest stipend” for their performances, with actors of all backgrounds and ages encouraged to audition.
