Unique North Texas events this Mother’s Day weekend: May 12-14

Spotlighting some of the best Mother’s Day events in Collin County, Denton County and beyond for this coming weekend.

Mother’s Day Art and Garden Festival – Trophy Club

The Trophy Club Women’s Club hosts this annual Mother’s Day weekend event bringing together 40 regional artists along with live music and daily gardening talks at the festival’s garden area. The free festival also features a children’s area with face painting and an appearance by master balloonist Christopher Lyle who will be creating amazing balloon art for the kids. Net proceeds from funds and donations raised through the festival will go towards the Trophy Club Women’s Club’s list of supported charitable foundations. The festival runs from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on May 12, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on May 13 and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on May 14. Head to the festival’s website for more information.

Mother’s Day Bachata Night – Garland

Get a lesson in how to dance Bachata before enjoying a delicious scoop of ice cream at this Mother’s Day class and experience hosted by artisanal ice cream and Filipino-inspired desserts shop Scoop N’ Buns from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on May 13. A $30 ticket before fees lets you enjoy a complimentary alcoholic drink, a scoop of ice cream and the chance to create your own charcuterie box while also receiving an hour-long lesson in Bachata. Keeks Mother’s Day Mini Market – Plano

Keeks Designer Handbags, a 10,000-square-foot store that buys and sells lightly used designer handbags and accessories, is hosting a mini market in honor on May 13 in honor of Mother’s Day. The market includes five local vendors, complimentary espresso from Moliendo Coffee Co. and a free build-your-own-bouquet station. Mother’s Day Pop-Up Market – Dallas

For a Mother’s Day market on the big day itself, drive over to The Rustic during its Jam and Toast Brunch from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on May 14. The restaurant kitchen, bar and music venue will have 15 vendors selling everything from boutique and vintage clothing to jewelry and artisan products on-hand during the brunch. There will also be free live music from noon to 2:30 p.m. from Caroline Parker during the event followed by another free performance by Porter Spigener from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. after the event. Mother’s Day Comedy Shows – Various

Laugh out loud at one of these comedy shows honoring the moms in our lives this weekend at different comedy clubs around DFW:

Because We Said So: A Mother’s Day Tribute – The Dallas Comedy Club hosts a special 7:00 p.m. show on Mother’s Day (May 14) featuring humorous and heartwarming stand-up comedy and storytelling from five different performers. Tickets start at $15 before fees and are available through Eventbrite.

Mother’s Day Brunch and Comedy Show – In McKinney, The Comedy Arena is offering a special brunch menu alongside its 11:30 a.m. Mother’s Day comedy show on May 14. Tickets cost $18 before fees for adults and $12 before fees for children. Head to The Comedy Arena website for additional information.

Comedy Moms Mother’s Day Extravaganza – Laugh alongside seven different national headlining or up-and-coming comedian mothers at The Plano House of Comedy at 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on May 14. The 16-and-over show, which includes special drinks and prizes, costs $20 before fees to attend and a minimum purchase of two menu items.
