Plano-based Rover Dramawerks recently announced audition times for its upcoming comedy “Take the Couch” directed by Glynda Welch.

The theater company will host auditions for the show at Reclamation Church in Plano from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on January 13 and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on January 14.

In a recent release, Rover Dramawerks detailed the plot of the Connie Schindewolf-written play as follows:

“Natalie and Steve have just returned from taking their last child off to college, but they are not the stereotypical couple suffering from empty nest syndrome. They are ready for some alone time, and Steve has rented some X-rated movies to spice up their marriage. Then the doorbell rings, and their plans for a little romance are thwarted by nonstop visits from their dysfunctional family members, all of which make for a riotous romp of a weekend,” the theater’s description read.

Auditionees should bring a resume and headshot to the auditions as well as prepare to read scenes from the script. The theater company notes that it may also require actors to bring references.

Rehearsals for the play will begin January 28 and continue “typically Monday through Thursday evenings, with some Saturday afternoons.” The theater added that actors should note all potential conflicts at the audition.

The play will then run from March 7 through March 23 at Cox Playhouse in Plano. Actors and technicians will each receive stipends.
