McKinney Repertory Theatre is hosting auditions for its production of “The Diary of Anne Frank”
McKinney Repertory Theatre’s auditions for “The Diary of Anne Frank” will take place this January.
McKinney Repertory Theatre (MRT) recently announced audition dates for its upcoming production of “The Diary of Anne Frank.” The theater will host open auditions for the impactful and emotional show from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on January 8 and 9 at the McKinney Performing Arts Center. There will also be the option to submit online video auditions.
MRT’s description of the show reads as follows:
“’The Diary of Anne Frank’ is one of the most famous and haunting stories to emerge from the 20th Century. The memoirs of this young Jewish girl, forced to hide for nearly two years to escape Nazi persecution, are an essential part of how we remember one of the darkest periods of our human history. For nearly two years, Anne, her father, mother, and sister, joined with the Van Daan family to hide in a secret annex space above her father’s former office in Amsterdam, as the Nazis deported Dutch Jews to their deaths.
In her secret attic, Anne matures, she laughs, plays, argues with her mother, and falls in love for the first time. Anne’s spirit shines through, even in the face of her oppressive circumstances and the horrors that surround her, as she voices her belief that “people are truly good at heart, despite everything.” Anne’s vivacity, her luminous spirit, and her story of resilience continue to have a profound impact, making her story as important today as when her diary was first published.”
The production, directed by Nathan Autrey, will run from March 1 through March 9 at the McKinney Performing Arts Center, with rehearsals set to begin in mid-January.
In-person audition slots are available through the show’s SignUpGenius page at the link here. Those interested in sending a video audition should contact auditionsmrt@gmail.com. MRT will require a minute-long monologue for those interested in submitting via email, with a deadline of 5:00 p.m. on January 8.

MRT ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR “THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK”

“The Diary of Anne Frank” is one of the most famous and haunting stories to emerge from the 20th Century. MRT is thrilled to have Nathan Autrey directing, “The Diary of Anne Frank”. This is Mr. Autrey’s first time directing for MRT, but he is not a newcomer to the Dallas-Fort Worth theatre scene. He brings over 14 years of experience as a stage director, educator, and actor to the MRT stage. Mr. Autrey is looking forward to bringing Anne’s story to life on stage, saying “There is an excess of hate in the world at this time, making it difficult to find hope. Anne Frank, however, is a beacon of light in this darkness. Her story reminds us that, no matter the circumstances, there is always hope. This is a message that is as relevant now as it ever was.”
Auditions will be both in-person and digital. All roles are voluntary and unpaid. Rehearsals will begin in mid-January. For more information and the full rehearsal schedule please visit: https://mckinneyrep.org/auditions
“The Diary of Anne Frank” is by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, newly adapted by Wendy Kesslman, and is being presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection (www.dramatists.com).
